What personal prayer means
Du'a means calling upon God. It may express gratitude, ask for help or seek forgiveness. Unlike the prescribed daily prayer, a personal request does not require a fixed script. A Muslim may speak in Urdu, Telugu, Hindi, English or another language. Private thoughts and unspoken concerns can also be part of this relationship.
Does a religious leader have to carry the prayer
The Qur'an presents God as near and responsive to those who call upon Him. A person does not need an imam, the person who leads congregational prayer, to make a personal request on their behalf. People may ask one another to pray for them, but no human being controls access to God. Direct prayer to God is central to Islamic worship.
What response can mean
The promise of response should not be presented as a guarantee that every wish will come true immediately or in the requested form. Within Islamic faith, prayer belongs alongside trust in God's wisdom and responsibility for one's actions. A student may pray before an examination and still need to study. Someone who is unwell may pray and also seek medical care.
Personal prayer offers a way to express dependence, hope and gratitude. It does not remove uncertainty from life, and unanswered expectations should not become a reason to blame someone for weak faith. A visitor who does not share the belief can still understand why this direct relationship matters deeply to many Muslims.
Qur’anic verses
Qur'an 2 : 186
When My servants ask you about Me, I am near. I answer the call of the person who prays when they call upon Me. So let them respond to Me and believe in Me, so that they may be rightly guided.
